Catalog Butler — Privacy

Catalog Butler organizes your product catalog: standard categories, plus the brand, product type, tags and search text that are missing, so shoppers and search engines can find your products. This page explains exactly what that involves, in plain terms.

What we read

To prepare a report, we read your product catalog: titles, descriptions, images, existing categories, and the fields already filled in on your products — brand, product type, tags and search text. That is all we look at.

What we never read

We never access your customers, their personal information, your orders, or any payment details. Nothing about who buys from you, or how, passes through this app.

What we store

For each report we generate, we keep the proposed categories, a snapshot of what each product looked like before (so a pass can be undone exactly), and a running ledger of how many suggestions your plan has left. All of it is scoped to your store and tied to your subscription plan.

How suggestions are made

Product titles, descriptions, and images may be sent to an AI provider to help suggest a category and fill in missing fields. We only use providers under terms that exclude your data from model training. Suggestions are AI-generated. Nothing is ever written to your store until you review the report and approve it — every change is yours to accept or reject.

Deleting your data

When you uninstall the app, Shopify notifies us and we permanently delete every record we hold for your store — reports, snapshots, and credit history — typically within 48 hours, per Shopify's data protection requirements for apps.
